Bicyclist Injured in Hit-and-Run Accident in Kirkland
A bicyclist was injured on Friday in a hit-and-run accident that occurred in Kirkland. According to the local news, the police are presently looking for witnesses who may have information about a silver Subaru Outback that struck the bicyclist outside of an apartment complex in Kirkland, near Carillon Point.
We hope that the police are able to find more information and identify the driver that caused the accident. Hit-and-run accidents occur all too often. It’s common that these accidents are caused by drivers who are under the influence or who have criminal records which prompt them to flee the scene.
If you are the victim of a hit-and-run accident, you should check your car insurance policy to see if you have Uninsured Motorist Coverage. If you do, your own car insurance will provide coverage to compensate you for your damages. This coverage would apply to you if you are a pedestrian, bicyclist or riding in a car.
Of course, you should do everything to try to find the driver who caused the accident but it’s nice to know that your own insurance can make sure you and your family are not going to be left without compensation. If you don’t have uninsured motorist coverage, we highly recommend that every car owner in Washington purchase this relatively inexpensive but very important coverage.
